Heritage Charm with University Precinct Access

Dutton Park is an inner southern suburb in the City of Brisbane, 4.3 km south of the CBD. Named in 1884 after Charles Boydell Dutton, Queensland Minister for Lands (1883-1887), the park was reserved for recreation. The South Brisbane Cemetery was reserved in 1866 and is Brisbane's oldest surviving municipal cemetery. Boggo Road Gaol opened on 2 July 1883. The South Coast railway line with Dutton Park station was built in 1884. Electric trams served the suburb from 1901 to 1969. The Eleanor Schonell Bridge connects Dutton Park to UQ's St Lucia campus. In the 2021 census, Dutton Park had a population of 2,134 people.
